Susan Aglukark U of A concert to support Aboriginal students and celebrate 50 years of northern research
Juno Award winning singer Susan Aglukark will play a special concert at the University of Alberta as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Canadian Circumpolar Institute (CCI). The institute is dedicated to supporting northern and polar research and education at the U of A.
Aglukark has a special connection with Canada’s north. An Inuk singer who blends Inuktitut and English languages in her music, Aglukark is a Distinguished Scholar in Residence at U of A hosted by the Faculty of Native Studies and the Canadian Circumpolar Institute. Aglukark leads the development of the Holistic Mentoring Program as well as advises on the university’s Northern engagement.
Aglukark’s commitment to education is being recognized with this concert. Proceeds will establish the Susan Aglukark Aboriginal Award Fund to support Aboriginal students pursuing undergraduate degrees, full-time at the U of A.
