TIX on the square adds a small fee to the price of event tickets. This fee covers the operating costs of this web site and the TIX box office.
Tuesday, May 4, 2010, is the night for wine aficionados and jazz lovers alike to come together and celebrate the fine wines of Argentina and the exquisite music presented by the Edmonton Jazz Festival Society.
Hosted at the Sutton Place Hotel, in the elegant main ballroom and Winterlake Suite, this evening will feature the sampling of over 150 varieties of Argentinean wine and light hors d’oeuvres.
Argentinean wines are the trendiest collection of the season, and have a distinct flavour that is being internationally recognized for its full bodied, savory nature. Such wineries as Dona Paula, Enrique Foster, and Luigi Bosca, will be sampling their fine wines at this event and are setting the standard of quality for international and local vendors alike.
Members of the Edmonton Jazz Orchestra will be performing throughout the evening, under the direction of Juno Nominee, Kent Sangster. This group is proud to be our community's premier professional big band, and is committed to bringing traditional jazz music to the forefront and maintaining this beautiful form of music in the Edmonton area.
A silent auction will be located in the hotel lobby, and will feature items from local golf courses, restaurants, art vendors, and other hot ticket items which can be purchased in support of the Edmonton Jazz Festival Society. The live auction will also provide attendees with an opportunity to purchase high ticket items, including a private performance by members of the Edmonton Jazz Orchestra, private wine tastings, and a chance to be a co-emcee at one of the 2010 Jazz Festival`s Winspear concerts!
This fundraiser will be your opportunity to support the Edmonton jazz community and the development of young local musicians. Proceeds from this event will be used to further the local jazz scene through initiatives of the Edmonton Jazz Festival Society; Jazzworks – educational programs for student musicians, the Edmonton Jazz Orchestra –Edmonton-based, professional jazz ensemble, and the Edmonton International Jazz Festival – a ten-day summer festival presenting local, Canadian and International jazz artists.
