Based on Puccini’s grand opera La Boheme, set in the 1980’s, RENT tackles subject matters no other musicals has in the past. Just like Hair, Phantom of the Opera, Jesus Christ Superstar or Les Miserable, RENT has also become a significant staple in musical theatre. Rightfully so! It is the eighth-longest-running musical in the history of Broadway.
