Presented as part of Caught in the Act: The Theatre Series on 118 Ave
Three friends gather to open a mysterious gift left to them by an old friend. This gift, however, will severely test their relationships and memories, and will reveal a devastating group secret. The Gift is a fiercely funny portrayal of love, loyalty, betrayal, and the lies we mutually conjure to survive together.
The Gift, like Collin Doyle’s award winning The Mighty Carlins, is set in Edmonton, with a poignant sense of humour that captures our city’s distinctive charm.
Arts on the Ave and the Avenue Initiative have teamed up to create and curate Caught in the Act: the theatre series on 118 Ave. The series takes place in the developing performance matrix that extends between the Old Cycle Building and the Avenue Theatre on 118 Ave, straddling 92/93 streets.
Caught in the Act runs from April to September, and includes Shakespeare, original plays and festival productions. Featured events include the Edmonton debut of a new work that will travel to the Edinburgh Fringe later in the summer, a festival of Irish Theatre, and, for the second year in a row, a Fringe BYOV over the river.
