When the news arrives in sleepy Inishmaan that an American film crew is descending on a nearby island to make a movie, no one is more excited than Billy. The wistful, overgrown orphan, who had been happy to while away his days watching cows, feverishly sets his sights on the Hollywood dream as a means of escape from the limitations of life as 'Cripple Billy'.
In the great tradition of Irish storytelling, precocious playwright Martin McDonagh (Beauty Queen of Leenane, A Skull in Connemara) delivers an eccentric tale that lilts rhythmically between dry humour and deep poignancy.
