Celebrating the 200th Anniversary of Chopin's Birth
Mazurka Music presents the Chopin Piano Recital 'From Zelazowa Wola to Paris', performed by Zuzana Simurdova and Mikolaj Warszynski – the classical piano duo from Montreal. The concert will take place on Sunday, September 12, 2010, at 7:30pm at Convocation Hall.
This recital will be presented in a multimedia format with piano performances by the artists interspersed with documentary anecdotes and visual slides about Chopin. The concert will feature a cross-section of works by Chopin throughout the various stages of his development, beginning with his early compositions as a youth in his birthplace - Zelazowa Wola and Warsaw in Poland until the last years of his life in Paris. The repertoire selections will include forms such as prelude, nocturne, waltz, mazurka, scherzo, ballade, polonaise and few others.
The soloists dressed in the costumes characteristic for Romantic era will create a theatrical storyline alongside their high caliber piano performances.
