Droll Stories/Hekabe

Presented by Theatre Arts Department, Grant MacEwan University

Based on the stories of Honoré de Balzac and directed by Kenneth Brown, MacEwan Theatre Arts students will create a series of shows, Droll Stories, filled with laughter, romance, and intrigue. Balzac was a great admirer of medieval French stories that were folk tales like Geoffrey Chaucer’s The Canterbury Tales or Giovanni Boccaccioˈs The Decameron. On a more serious note, Hekabe, directed by Dave Horak, is a Euripides tragedy originally written in 424 BC and translated by contemporary Canadian poet Anne Carson.
