Grant MacEwan University and the University of Alberta established their respective jazz ensembles 40 years ago to provide a performance outlet for students to gain experience in the jazz and commercial genres. Supporting a collaborative project, the Big Bands have now been together for nearly 20 years, and in that time have achieved many milestones. The group released a CD which received praise from both local and national media, worked under the direction of many notable musicians, backed up several internationally renowned artists, and won top awards at many national music festivals. Tickets will be more expensive at the door.
