Using This SystemHere is a guide to purchasing event tickets using this website. Search and BrowseFirst, find an event to which you want to purchase tickets. You can find tickets on this website several ways:
Any of the above methods will lead you to a Search Results page, showing "brief" views of many listings. Event RunsAfter finding an event you wish to attend, or see more information about, click the event title; this will take you to the event detail page. If the event is part of an "extended run", you will see a page that lists all of the events within that "run of events". A run is a recurring event that takes place over a series of days. For example, suppose a performance of the opera Carmen opens at a particular venue, and "runs" for 20 days. Rather than showing 20 separate events as search results, they are "collapsed" into one listing - a "run" - appearing only ONCE in search results, and showing a "date range" rather than a single date. When you click the event title for a "run" in search results, you will arrive at a "run" detail page, rather than seeing the information for one single event within that "run". The "run" page will list all of the events within that run; each of those events shows as a link to one specific event detail page. All of the information common to all of the events within that run will be displayed. Not all events within a run will necessarily have the same showtimes or ticket prices. For example, tickets for weekend performances can cost more than weekday performances, and might have different showtimes. Ticket SelectionOnce you are looking at the detail page for a specific event, you will see the full version of the description, a map to the location of the event, the date and time of the event, the name and address of the venue, and ticket purchasing options. The ticket purchasing options will sometimes include options that cannot be purchased through the website. For example, if the event sells "tickets at the door", these tickets cannot be sold in advance over the website; nevertheless, it's useful for the website to mention that tickets will be sold at the door, and what the cost is. Some events (including many subscriptions and passes) cannot be shipped to customers, and require that special arrangements be made between the customer and promoter after purchase completion; TIX will facilitate this upon order completion. Also, some advance tickets have "cut-off" dates, beyond which they are no longer available for sale; usually the day before the event. You may therefore see a number of ticket types which are not available. Another reason tickets may not be available is if the event is sold out or cancelled, in either of these two cases, text would appear on the event detail page to that effect. If tickets to that event are available for sale through this website, there will be a widget on the event detail page which allows you to select the type(s) of tickets you wish to purchase; select a quantity, and choose "add to cart". * Remember that while you can select any type(s) of tickets the website offers, and purchase them, in order to use them at the event, you will need to satisfy the event's door-staff that you have purchased suitable tickets. For example, if you purchase "children's" tickets because they are cheaper, the website will permit you to checkout - presumably you are purchasing tickets for children, bringing your own, etc. However if you show up at the event and try to use children's tickets, but are clearly over fourty, the event's door-staff may refuse admittance, using those tickets. Online Purchase CompletionOnce you have added tickets to your cart, you can continue shopping, and add more tickets to your cart by repeating the above steps (for example you may wish to purchase tickets of multiple types to the same event, or purchase tickets to multiple events) or you an proceed to checkout. Note that tickets in your cart are only reserved for 30 minutes. This is because the tickets you have added to your cart are removed from the available inventory of tickets for that event, and if you do not complete your purchase, the tickets need to be made available to others... eventually. Once you are ready to checkout, select the cart button Checkout Now. If you have left your cart, and wish to return to it, there is a link on every page, on the right side, in a box called "Shopping Cart", reading View your cart. Immediately below it is a link reading Begin checkout in the event that you simply wish to go directly to checkout at any time. Once you have started the checkout process, simply follow the on-screen instructions to complete your purchase. Note that options related to your order may be restricted depending on the time remaining until the "soonest" event for which you are purchasing tickets, as well as the types of items in your cart; on-screen instructions will explain and guide you. For example, you may not be presented with the option to receive your tickets in the mail if there is not sufficient time for the tickets to get to you by mail. Options such as ticket delivery, pick-up at the box office, pick-up at the venue, are presented "as possible" and information is collected from you accordingly. For example, if you are picking up tickets at the box office, you do not need to provide a Shipping Address, only a Billing Address. All information collected during the checkout process, particularly credit card information, is protected by SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) encryption. This means all pages in the checkout process have "https" at the start of the web page URL so you know the data transmitted between your computer and our server is secure. More information is made available during the checkout process in the form of the TIX policy documents, available also at the bottom of all pages; Privacy Policy, Terms and Conditions, and our Return Policy.
