The story of Caitlin Marie Bodewitz starts back on the beautiful secluded mountain of Powder King in Azu Village, British Columbia. Growing up, creativity was more of a necessity rather then a luxury. Considering her first home had no running water, no electricity, and no plumbing she had to be extremely creative in the way she lived her life and found beauty in the simple things.

This artistic upbringing led her to pursue her passion and complete a Bachelors of Fine Arts with Honours in Studio Concentration at the University of Calgary. In her second year she was introduced to Printmaking, and it was love at first sight! Silkscreening quickly became an important mode of expression, communication, and exploration for her.

Today Caitlin continues to push the boundaries of traditional printmaking by exploring alternative techniques and materials. She incorporates collage, photo transfers, and drawings with the silkscreens onto a variety of materials including but not limited to paper, sheet music, vinyl records, barn wood, and old doors.

Mother Earth, Aboriginal culture, and simple beauty in nature fuels inspiration for new imagery. All of her themes, materials, and processes reflect a conscious effort to be environmentally mind-full by reusing and recycling found objects and exploring the land we all walk.
