Wild Woods Ceramics is owned by Leo Lemke, who was born in Amiskwacîwâskahikan (Edmonton). He graduated from Victoria School of The Arts in 2020, where he was introduced to ceramics as a medium. He began working with it seriously in spring of 2020, and promptly started Wild Woods Ceramics. Leo is Métis, and grew up feeling very distant from his culture, yet always wanting to learn more. Through ceramics as a medium, he feels closer to the land he is from. His inspiration is drawn from the beautiful and noble animals that live in the land around him, and particularly the animals he feels connects with. The name “Wild Woods” is a tribute to the beautiful wild, the perfect freedom which comes only from within the trees.
