María Grand is a musician with presence and vision, and already a breadth of experience playing with artists such as Mary Halvorson, Matana Roberts, Nicole Mitchell, Aaron Parks, Steve Lehman and Joel Ross.

She was deemed “an engrossing young tenor saxophonist with a zesty attack and a solid tonal range” by the New York Times and one of “the most original voices of the (post-) contemporary jazz scene with a very impressive mix of talent, aplomb, and serenity” by Jazz Magazine.

Her debut album “Magdalena” was picked as one of 2018’s 10 best jazz albums by Billboard, and she was voted Best New Artist in the 2018 JazzTimes Reader’s Poll.

Her trio, composed of rising stars Kanoa Mendenhall on bass and Savannah Harris on drums, has toured Europe and the East Coast of the United States, bringing audiences a combination of seriousness and power that has led Jazz Magazine to say that “with their genuinely collective discourse, both organic and of great spiritual power, these three (very) young women bursting with talent, could well be the great revelation of the end of this decade.”.
