New Moon Folk Club presents T. Buckley on January 17th, 2020 - 7:30PM at St. Basil's Cultural Centre, 10819 71 Ave
Alberta Roots with timeless, flowing melodies
T. Buckley Music
With feet solidly planted on prairie soil, T Buckley established himself as central to the Calgary roots and country music scenes, with weekly residencies at some of the city’s top venues. He is an intergenerational favourite, embraced by fellow songwriters and his audience.
With his latest album Miles We Put Behind T Buckley carved himself a new stylistic route, leaving his more traditional country past for a slicker sound, backed by a new band, and co-writing with a few prominent industry names: Grammy-winner Don Henry and Jon Wort Hannam. A new T. Buckley… “It just felt like it was time to shake things up and take some creative risks.”
Miles We Put Behind is a collection of mature, introspective songs, by a keen observer of the world, in places revealing a more vulnerable self, and offering a variety of country-roots styles and memorable melodies to wrap in his relaxed tenor. This latest work reaffirms T Buckley’s affinity for the great Texas songwriters, with echoes of that scene’s best, including Lyle Lovett, and Guy Clark.
“I think the most important thing in writing, regardless of whether it’s really heavy and dark … or lighter, is genuineness.”
Tickets are $23, and $27 at the door (subject to availability), plus applicable service charges.
