MacEwan University Theatre presents City of Angels, March 21 to 31 at the Triffo Theatre (proscenium), Allard Hall, 11110 104 Ave.

City of Angels is the rarest of musical comedies: loaded with Cy Coleman’s award winning jazz score, but also filled with sidesplitting comedy supplied by Larry Gelbart of M*A*S*H fame. This clever musical comedy won six Tony Awards including Best Musical, Book and Score.

Set in the glamorous, seductive Hollywood of the 40’s—the world of film studios and flimsy negligees—the show chronicles the misadventures of Stine, a young novelist attempting a screenplay of his bestselling novel for movie producer Buddy Fiedler.

Stine’s writing battles in the legendary Hollywood studio system are intercut with a film noir enactment of his screenplay in progress. Femme fatales, double crosses and mystery collide hilariously with Tinseltown politics. This double-feature quality leads to romance and humor in a loving but bittersweet valentine to the dream factory of Hollywood.

Tickets are $25 for Adults, $20 for Seniors 60+, and $15 for full-time Students. MacEwan Faculty and Staff is $18. Preview night is $5. Service fees apply.

Wheelchair seating is available in Allard Hall performance venues. Please contact the MacEwan Box Office either by email at boxoffice @ macewan.ca or by phone at 780-497-4470 if you have questions about use of mobility aids or other seating concerns.
