Master of the lute

A leading light on Canada’s early music scene, Sylvain Bergeron gives nearly one hundred concerts each season with such ensembles Les Violons du Roy, L’Ensemble Arion, Les Idées Heureuses, Les Boréades and Les Voix Humaines, and has worked with such renowned musicians as Emma Kirkby, James Bowman, Jordi Savall, David Daniels, Karina Gauvin and Daniel Taylor. He has appeared on over 70 recordings, many of which have earned international awards, and has made several highly praised solo lute recordings for the ATMA label. A specialist in early plucked string instruments, Sylvain Bergeron has conducted numerous early music seminars and workshops, and is frequently consulted for recording and publishing projects. He teaches the lute and baroque guitar at McGill University and the University of Montreal.
