New Moon Folk Club presents Digging Roots on November 16, 2018 at 7:30pm at St Basil's Cultural Centre, 10819 71 Ave.

Juno-winning First Nations power couple Shoshona Kish and Raven Kanatakta have built their sound on a unique musical marriage of unvarnished truth and unconditional love. Their music - best described as roots, rock, soul-folk and blues - packs a punch while adding romantic optimism. The couple formed the band in 2004, and released three albums since, including collaborations with Tanya Tagaq, and DJ Bear Witness of A Tribe Called Red. Their latest album, For the Light, was released in 2014. On it, sultry and powerful vocals and searing guitar engage against the forces of darkness, echoing throughout with the beat of the Grandfather drum. Digging Roots' live show is high energy, and to see the couple play live is to witness the love story between them. The duo have let love lead them in life, music and in dealing with difficult times.

Tickets are $20 in advance, plus applicable fees. Children under 12 are free at the door.
