C'mon Festival Society presents C'mon Downtown, July 12-14th at The Winspear Centre, 4 Churchill Square

“C’mon Downtown” is the seventh annual C’mon Festival, Edmonton’s annual celebration of dressed-down classical music. The festival will feature several of Alberta’s finest professional musicians, from the ranks of the Edmonton Symphony, Calgary Philharmonic and RCA Band. They’ll be playing beloved chestnuts of the standard repertoire mixed with edgier, genre-bending contemporary works, in a relaxed atmosphere that promises a seriously fun classical music experience.

The three-concert festival will feature the Polyphonie String Quartet (Virginie Gagne & Ewald Cheung-violins, Clayton Leung-viola and Kathleen DeCaen-cello), marimba virtuoso Tim Borton, clarinetist Rob Spady and trombonist Kathryn Macintosh. The C’mon Festival is pleased to showcase music written and performed by guest violinist/composer Alissa Cheung, a former Edmontonian now based in Montreal where she is a member of the internationally renowned Bozzini Quartet. The festival will also present music by composer Farhad Khosravi, who will perform on the hauntingly beautiful Middle Eastern santur.
